Luxury Watch Design & NFT.
For the ambitious Watch NFT project, I undertook the creation of a unique collection of nine highly detailed 3D luxury watch models. Drawing inspiration from complex timepieces like those by Jacob & Co., each watch was meticulously designed to embody a specific cryptocurrency (e.g., Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP) and a corresponding celestial body (e.g., Sun, Mercury, Earth), even incorporating a recurring ‘Anonymous Astronaut’ (AA) motif. Utilizing 3ds Max and Unreal Engine, the project demanded intricate modeling, photorealistic texturing, and high-fidelity visualization, including a system of interchangeable, rarity-tiered straps.
The Challenge
The core challenge was translating abstract and complex thematic concepts—merging specific cryptocurrencies, planets, astronaut figures, and color palettes—into tangible, visually stunning, high-detail 3D luxury watch models suitable for a premium NFT offering. This involved:
- Modeling extremely intricate watch designs, potentially with visible internal mechanics and miniature thematic elements (planets, AA figure).
- Achieving photorealism across a wide range of demanding materials: various precious metals (platinum, gold, silver, bronze), diamonds, exotic leathers (snake, alligator, calf), and unique textures for planets or cosmic effects.
- Designing and implementing a modular system of interchangeable straps representing 8+ distinct rarity levels, complete with thematic crypto logos on the top.
- Ensuring consistency in quality and style across all nine unique watch themes.
- Producing high-quality visuals (renders or real-time) capable of showcasing the extreme detail and craftsmanship of the digital timepieces.
My Role
As the Lead 3D Artist for the Watch NFT collection, I was responsible for the complete 3D creation process, bringing the nine unique concepts to life based on the provided thematic briefs and reference imagery. My key responsibilities included:
- High-poly modeling of the intricate watch cases, mechanisms (where visible), and integrated thematic elements (planets, Anonymous Astronaut figure) using 3ds Max.
- Modeling the full range of interchangeable straps and bracelets according to the specified materials and rarity tiers, including adding crypto logos to clasps.
- Creating highly detailed and realistic PBR (Physically Based Rendering) materials and textures for all components using Substance Painter.
- Setting up lighting and rendering scenes in Unreal Engine to achieve photorealistic results.
- Delivering the final high-quality 3D assets, rendered images, or animations as required by the project for their NFT collection.

The Solution
I delivered a collection of nine unique, high-detail 3D watch models ready for use in the NFT project:
- Conceptually Rich Designs: Each of the nine 3D watch models successfully integrated its assigned cryptocurrency theme (BTC, ETH, XRP, FLR, SOL, DOGE, HBAR, XDC, XLM), planetary association, specific color palette, and the ‘Anonymous Astronaut’ figure into a cohesive and visually striking luxury watch design.
- Modular Rarity System: Created a full set of beautifully textured 3D straps/bracelets corresponding to the 8+ rarity tiers (ranging from Calf Leather to Platinum with Diamonds), designed to be interchangeable across all watch heads, enabling hundreds of unique visual combinations for the NFT collection.
- Photorealistic Materials & Detail: Applied advanced texturing and material techniques to achieve a high level of realism on complex surfaces like brushed and polished metals, gemstones, exotic leathers, and miniature celestial bodies within the watch face or mechanism.
- High-Fidelity Visualization: Produced high-resolution outputs using advanced techniques in Unreal Engine that showcased the intricate details and luxury quality of the digital timepieces.

This project resulted in the successful creation of the core visual assets for the Watch NFT collection – nine unique, highly detailed, and thematically rich 3D luxury watch models with a comprehensive rarity system. Key outcomes:
- Delivered premium-quality 3D models suitable for a high-value NFT project, meeting complex artistic and thematic requirements.
- Created a flexible system of interchangeable straps allowing for extensive visual variety and rarity stratification within the collection.
- Showcased advanced expertise in high-poly modeling, complex PBR texturing, material development, and photorealistic rendering of luxury goods.
- Provided the foundational visual assets enabling the client to proceed with their NFT minting, marketing, and launch strategy.
